Emilie Fruergaard er keramiker og studerende på Det Kongelige Akademi, hvor hun læser Crafts –
Glass and Ceramics på Bornholm i Nexø. Hun arbejder med både funktionelle og skulpturelle
objekter, hvor det uforudsigelige element er en drivkraft i værket.
Det, der begejstrer Fruergaard mest ved keramik, er materialets evne til at skabe forbindelser – hvad
enten det er gennem en kaffekop eller et skulpturelt værk. Ler er et materiale, der bærer på en
historie, og gennem arbejdet med det ønsker hun at formidle forundring, glæde og nysgerrighed
over for denne historie til beskueren.

Emilie Fruergaard is a ceramicist and a student at the Royal Danish Academy, where she studies
Crafts – Glass and Ceramics on Bornholm in Nexø. She works with both functional and sculptural
objects, in which unpredictability serves as a driving force in her practice.
What excites Fruergaard most about ceramics is the material’s ability to create connections –
whether through a coffee cup or a sculptural piece. Clay is a material that carries a history, and
through working with it, she seeks to communicate a sense of wonder, joy, and curiosity about this
history to the viewer.
